VUW History, Programs & Activities

2020 SCHOLARSHIP recipients have been selected.  There are 24 recipients of $3000 scholarships for students attending a 4 year college or university and 1 $500 scholarship for a student attending comunity college.  Congratulations to our winners from these high schools in the San Fernando Valley: North Hollywood;  Burbank High; Monroe;  Cleveland;  Kennedy; Burroughs; Bimingham; El Camino; Chatsworth; Canoga Park; and Grant.

It is with great sadness that we announce the recent death of Marilyn Fabre, a mainstay of VUW, our event coordinator, a member of the schlarship commitee, ever cheering us on in our activities.  Marilyn will be mourned and greatly missed for many years to come.

Scholarship Program:  Since 1946 Valley University Women has continuously offered scholarships to graduating high school seniors who will be attending college or university in California.  We hope to host a grand celebration in the spring of 2021 honoring our 75th anniversary of giving scholarships!  From our first $100 scholarship of one student in 1946 to 25 recipients at $3000 in 2020 we have come a long way!

Scholarship Funds:  VUW members personally raise funds for our scholarship program through an annual Fundraising Event, silent auctions, individual donations and through bequests. Recent bequests are from the estates of long-time members Vicki Manchester and Sylvia Schuster.
